Together, we hold space for individual stories and the concerns of the moment, even as we explore heroines’ stories and archetypes from the distant past.

We conjure something powerful and unexpected each time we meet, and that empowers every heroine in the circle to live a life more thoughtful, beautiful, and generative.

Is the Heroine’s Knot is for you?

It is if you’re “a creative creature.”

Maybe you’ve identified as “a creative.” You’re a writer, an artist, an entrepreneur.

In The Heroine’s Knot, you’ll find the safe space to name and deepen your creative nature and begin to (re)design your life and work as you see yourself in a new way.

It is if you’re excited to explore what it means to be “a heroine.”

A heroine is neither a hero in a dress, nor a damsel in distress.

A heroine is at home in her creative spirit and in her commitment to the health of the land and ecosystems that support her. Motivated by her “do it together” perspective, a heroine is dedicated to care, community, and compassion.

And, at the same time, the heroine is sovereign. Her dedication to collective healing and renewal is sourced in a devotion to her own wholeness, creativity, and self-expression.

It is if you’re called to self expression AND “collective renewal”

You want to access your own creativity because it’s your way to passion, to joy, to the fullest experience of this one precious life.

And, you’re deeply aware of how fortunate you are to be able to prioritize your art, your healing, and your spiritual life when the earth is heating up and so many need so much.

Each session begins with a new training, meditation, or creative instigation inspired by mythology, folklore, archetype, and the more than human world.

Write & Create

You’re invited to meet yourself on the page through words or images. Carefully crafted prompts invite you to explore new ideas or further ongoing projects.

Share & Discuss

We grow through witnessing and being witnessed. Share the revelations and the struggles in small groups. Ask questions and further support from the entire circle.

What to expect when you join the Heroine’s Knot :

  • 13 sessions weekly sessions. We meet at noon ET on Wednesdays. And, if there is sufficient interest, we’ll create a second cohort to meet on Mondays at 7 PM ET. Each session includes:

    • a new heroine’s story, including an exploration of the themes and mythic resonance of the tale

    • 20 minutes to write, draw, craft, or dream

    • sharing and conversation

  • 3 informal bonus gatherings - bring a cup of tea and we’ll have a chat about your latest creative project or the tangles of life

  • A three-hour closing retreat at the end of our cycle

  • A curated community forum (not on Facebook!) where you can connect with other Heroines

Meet Your Guide, Marisa Goudy

Have we met yet? I’m Marisa and I'm a story healer, a writing coach, and a myth worker. I’m also a practitioner of energy medicine and a scholar of Irish literature and Celtic lore.

I meet you at the crossroads of the ancient and the modern. I speak the language of magic and myth, of tarot and imagination, but I've got the practical skills of an academic, a copywriter, a website development firm owner, and a digital marketer, too. 

My book, The Sovereignty Knot: A Woman’s Way to Freedom, Power, Love, and Magic was published in 2020. Currently, my creative energies are devoted to “remythologizing” stories from Celtic myth and Irish folklore for the KnotWork Storytelling podcast.

In 2018, I founded the Sovereign Writers Circle (later known as the Sovereign Writers’ Knot). Leading these groups consistently for five years has been the greatest professional and creative adventure I could have imagined.

I am so excited that The Heroine’s Knot will enable me to continue to hold space for folks who value the power of writing and to expand the scope of our collective work.

  • Setting a meeting time for a global community is wicked hard! (Yes, I am from Massachusetts, and I will say wicked rather often!)

    We will will meet at noon ET on Wednesdays.

    If there is sufficient interest, I’ll run an additional section at 7 PM ET on Mondays.

    All sessions are recorded and made available by the next day.

    Ideally, you'll block the meeting dates for the entire season, but we all have full schedules. You can make time for the recordings and check in on the private group if you miss a meeting.

  • And, by joining the Heroine’s Knot, you’re making a commitment to yourself, your art, and your ideas. You are also making a commitment to the other Heroines to be whole-hearted community member who is there to both offer and receive support.

  • Marisa has led an online community since 2018, first called the Sovereign Writers’ Circle and later called the Sovereign Writers’ Knot. She is no longer offering a group specifically focused on writers and writing.

    The Heroine’s Knot seeks to combine the best of the previous groups - community support, group coaching, and time to write and create - with Marisa’s skills as a teacher and intuitive guide dedicated to the study of mythology, archetypes, and personal growth.
