The guides, gods, and ancestors are your greatest creative allies.

What might happen if you asked them to help you shape your stories, your ideas, and your art?

My Story: An Otherworldly Creative Guide Spoke (and I Listened!)

Two years ago, as I tended my Autumn Equinox bonfire, a voice echoed in the Hudson Valley twilight.

You need to tell my story.

And then, I will help you tell the stories with the help of the guides, gods, and ancestors.

I’d come to the fire seeking insights into my next creative, professional project. My book had been out in the world for a while. Things were getting back to normal after the pandemic. I was trying to figure out what my “next big thing” would be.

That voice in the twilight (that only I could hear) was that of my most remarkable creative guide, an Irish Sovereignty Goddess named Mongfind.

Thanks to her counsel (and not-so-subtle instructions), I created the successful KnotWork Storytelling podcast.

This project has changed my life. It has opened the floodgates of inspiration, transformed my career, and introduced me to a tremendous circle of anam chairdre, soul friends.

And it all began with having the trust and presence to tune into the guidance from the unseen world.

Occasionally, our guides are gloriously specific. More often, they speak in symbols, riddles, and subtler tones.

Hearing the guides takes presence. Heeding the guides takes practice.

The rewards for doing this soul-deep creative work? Immeasurable.

This season, let’s make the space and time to connect with the ultimate creative source: the gods, guides, and ancestors.

Whether you think of them as elements of the collective unconscious, divine beings, or residents of the otherworld, there are so many unseen forces conspiring on our behalf.

These beings I have come to know as the gods, guides, and ancestors want to offer their help and insights.

They want to help you build a personal creative practice or write the book. They want to help you see new solutions to everyday problems and deepen your spirituality. They want to help open you to the magical and do the practical work of making your ideas into something real.

What can you expect in the Autumn Writers’ Knot?

Each session weaves together storytelling, guided meditation, creativity coaching, prompted writing, and time to chat with small groups and to share with the larger circle. You’ll want to have a quiet, private space for each three-hour session.

Is Writing with the Guides, Gods, and Ancestors right for you?

  • You appreciate gathering in community with creatives from all backgrounds, traditions, and lineages.
We are dedicated to curiosity and respect of others’ paths and approaches to the big questions about what it means to connect to the “unseen world.”

  • Your understanding of “the gods” is expansive and welcoming.
We’ll engage the mythical, the sacred, and the fantastical in our work together. While y particular area of passion and expertise is in the realms of Celtic mythology, you’re invited to bring your own traditions, inquiries, and quest for divine understanding to this program.

  • You’re interested in going beyond genealogy to explore ancestral stories and spirituality.
This program doesn’t just focus on researching your own family history or lineage. Our exploration of “the ancestors” will reach across cultures with a spirit of reverence and wonder.

  • You love to write, but you’re not sure you’re “a writer.”
You never have to read what you write and our conversations are never about critiquing the quality of others’ writing. You can draw or devote yourself to other creative work during our writing time. There’s a very good chance that you will start to put words on the page when inspired by community!

Meet your first companion on this journey with the guides, gods, and ancestors

I’m Marisa, and I’m a writing coach, a story healer, author, myth worker, and podcaster.

I’ve been running online writing communities since 2018 and, though the name of the group has changed over the years, the fundamental mission has always been the same: we welcome open-minded, big-hearted creatives, healers, and dreamers who are brave enough to meet themselves on the page.

In the Writers’ Knot, we're storytellers and poets, memoirists and bloggers, novelists and seekers, dreamers and healers trying to find a project that matters.

Some members journal daily. Some depend on my writing events and programs to pick up a pen. Some are working on books or wish to use writing and storytelling to market a business. Others will take the prompts and use them to access memories, images, and creativity in totally unexpected ways.

In this writers’ community, you never have to read your work aloud if you don't want to. You're just asked to show up for your own stories and open yourself to be inspired by the words, ideas, and questions that the other members bring to the group.
