Become the writer
your life’s work is
asking you to be.
Develop your long-term creative project.
Bring your book into being.
Fully inhabit the identity of “writer” (at last).
Join us in the Authors’ Knot in 2027.
Writing this thing (for real this time) could truly change you.
It could change everything.
Are you ready?
The Authors’ Knot:
the ten-month online program
for novelists, memoirists and creative nonfiction writers
seeking the skilled guidance and
dedicated community that
turns creative dreams into pages, chapters, and publications.
Your desire to write has always been there.
You can’t remember a time when you didn’t long to devote yourself more fully to your words and stories.
Perhaps you’ve been visited by a character who insists you introduce her to the world. Maybe you’re called to gather your insights and experiences into memoir. Or you're finally ready to translate your body of work into the book everyone has been telling you to write.
What you know for sure: now is the time to bring these ideas to the page.
This project is rooted in what you care about most—ancestral stories, wisdom you’ve gathered throughout your life, your longing to change the world in your own small, necessary way.
Of course, knowing you're ready to write the thing is only the beginning.
You know writing is your passion...and you know it's a demanding, confounding passion.
Writing a book or turning your life’s work into words that live and endure outside of you demands you confront the limits of your knowledge, confidence, and focus again and again.
It asks so much of you at every level - emotionally, mentally, spiritually, even physically.
You may find yourself depleted well before you reach your next writing goal.
And yet, you persist.
But then, there are all the outside forces competing for your attention.
A client needs an answer. A loved one needs care. Another outrageous headline has you burning with rage or succumbing to what’s the point thinking.
Yet again, another daily task or the sense of amorphous modern overwhelm steals the hours you meant to give the book.
Your own work matters deeply to you. But still… it doesn’t have the same sense of urgency as everything else because it’s just yours. You can set aside your writing for another week without anyone noticing.
What if people did notice, though?
What if you could rely on an intimate creative community who believed in your potential—as a writer, an artist, a thinker, a person here to use her words to heal our beautiful, burning world?
I want you to know what it’s like to be surrounded by people who listen and notice. Fellow writers who know which chapter is giving you the most trouble, ask the questions that help you find a new way in, and help you find your way back to the page, again and again.
That is why I created
the Authors’ Knot.
“The Author's Knot is a supportive and wildly talented group of women who are dedicated to their vision, their projects, their craft, and to their magic.
With Marisa at the helm and group feedback within the container, I have learned so much about my own voice, style and skill as a newly committed writer. Writing and creativity can be a lonely island in a competitive sea. This group is a sanctuary of women who believe in each other, challenge each other and cheer each other on.”

You shape your stories into words.
Your stories begin to reshape you.
When you have the support and fellowship that make it possible to prioritize your writing, you can devote yourself more fully to the stories that really matter to you.
And something remarkable happens.
You release everything onto the page (or at least you think you do). Then you try to discern what’s most important. You experiment. You revise. You may freak out. You wonder how all of these puzzle pieces could possibly fit together.
And then, new connections seem to emerge and unexpected forces start to weave into brilliant, unexpected new patterns.
Your own memories start to take on different meaning. Scenes and characters you thought you knew so well reveal fresh secrets. The stories you thought you could never tell begin to emerge as irrepressible truths.
As you write, you find that your own body of work rises up to support you.
You find you’re in a wild, infinite reciprocal relationship with your own words. Your writing is giving back to you, taking you deeper, moving you further than you imagined was possible.
When you and the work, when the writer and the writing start to develop this sort of conscious mutual exchange… it can feel like magic.
Writing may rarely be easy, but your writing feels more alive and the entire process becomes more nourishing over time.
“Magic happens when we gather. Even more so, when you’re in the presence and care of Marisa Goudy.
I’ve had the privilege and honor to work Marisa 1:1. She’s a skilled writing coach and wordsmith, but what she forges in the Authors’ Knot is something to behold: An intimate container that not only helps the heart shape the story it wants to tell, but also shapes the heart of the writer.
I now know I am a novelist, and not just because I have the pages to prove it. The added bonus is the like-minded, soul-friends you'll meet, who are just as wonderful as the woman who’s tending the scared flame of this group.”

The Writing. The Writer. The Knot.
Writing work is a form of sacred work. And sacred work is always a weaving of the magical and the practical.
In the Authors’ Knot, we engage with the mysteries of creativity, but we always anchor those spirals of possibility with regular meetings, compassion-based community guidelines, and the invitation to ask the nitty gritty questions about good writing and building strong stories.
The Writing
About once a month, ten times over the year, you'll bring your writing to a Read & Respond session. You’ll learn how to ask for the specific kinds of feedback that help bring your writing forward, whether that’s shaping a chapter’s structure, employing more powerful verbs, or cutting the verbal padding that dilutes your message. You’ll receive clear-eyed, strengths-focused feedback from your peers and your writing coach.
In addition to our Read & Respond meetings, our co-writing sessions, office hours, and occasional craft workshops offer additional opportunities to develop your skills, work through creative challenges, and find your way forward.
Making space for the big-picture question of “what does this book want to be?” and the nitty-gritty details of craft, we explore the skills and decisions involved in shaping a draft. That includes organization—both on the page and in your own files, whether you're just beginning or have been writing and researching for years.
“The Author's Knot gave me a space to take myself seriously as a writer, a space that was warm and gentle, where I could bring my experiences with the writing process, with myself as a writer and the actual project I was working on, to be held and seen.”
— Jen N, writer & somatic therapist
The Writer
Writing is nothing without its writer. In the Authors’ Knot, we support the living, breathing, stressing, rejoicing, fallible human who weaves the words. You’re a spiritual being having a writing experience.
The feelings matter. Always honoring the writer’s process, we celebrate the highs and reckon with the uncertainty, grief, frustration, and fear that invariably emerge when you keep showing up to do the work.
Over time, with the support of your coach and your community, you’ll build resilience in the face of creative obstacles and you’ll build your own muscles of discernment.
You’ll be able to follow your curiosity while avoiding endless research rabbit holes. Without losing yourself to the inner critic, you’ll begin to recognize old habits or weak spots in your own writing and adjust your storytelling style..
“I had no idea how to take all of the fragments, ideas and essays of my story and form them into something cohesive and true to me. My biggest take away was that in all the beautiful words I was writing, I wrote around myself and not through myself.
Marisa's guidance is gentle and supportive and her expertise feels like a laser that didn't direct my actions but showed me how to hone my own knowing and trust myself enough to let the story within, speak and guide.”

The Knot
This is a place where we understand that attention is the greatest gift that anyone can give or receive. Sharing your work and getting back thoughtful feedback is illuminating, but offering that same quality of attention to another writer is just as valuable. As you learn to recognize what makes someone else's writing come alive, you begin to see your own work with fresh eyes.
Each session begins with a grounding meditation. During our time together, we consciously close the door on competing demands. Our concerns for our planet and its people, and the needs of our families are always part of the writing life, but we let those recede for a few hours each week and land fully in community. We make space for stillness and inner creative movement so we can craft stories that we know are worth telling, even in - especially in - these difficult times.
When you say yes to the Authors’ Knot, expect to be part of a small circle that is mutually devoted to writing, but also to thriving, resting, and growing beyond the page. While we’re a writing group first, you’re invited to show up as your fullest self. Honest, heart-centered conversation is a shared core value. This space becomes a place where you can take risks, gently dissolve blocks, and cry when you need to.
“Marisa has a gift in seeing people and hearing what they want to express with their writing. Beyond that, she has a keen talent for guiding a writer to a form of work that is living in them but is not yet formed.
As part of the Author’s Knot this year, I reveled in the kinship and learned from the communion with other writers. I was also again and again struck by Marisa’s warmth, expertise, and clear vision when it came to laying out a roadmap for working on my memoir.”

Writing Together with the
Turning of the Wheel of the Year:
February to November, 2027
Our program stretches across ten months. We work with the rhythms of the moon and the shift of the seasons. My expertise in Irish mythology and cultural studies is a quiet backbone of the group, and the Celtic Wheel of the Year helps guide our energy and approach.
After an informal welcome session in late January, we really get started the week of February 15, 2027. The year is still fresh and those of us in northern climes are still held in the long dark of winter.
We conclude toward the end of November before “the holidays” tend to pull focus away from the page and toward family traditions and local communities.
You Begin Where You Are
At the outset, you’ll be invited to explore, establish, and name just where you are with your project.
At the beginning of the Authors’ Knot year you can trust that your own starting point is exactly where you need to be. Each member will be at a different point in her process. All members will be dedicated to making substantial progress by devoting time and attention to their writing in the year to come.
You may arrive with a ton of raw material, still seeking to find your book’s central through-line.
You may already have a draft that needs to be shaped and tended so it can become the book it’s meant to be.
You might be someone who intends to develop a focused consistent Substack or other online publication and you’ll use the group to help you develop a strategy and a sustainable writing and publication rhythm.
This truly is a “begin where you are, be met where you are, and move further and deeper from there” space.
We Navigate the Messy Middle Together
Over the months together, you'll continue giving your ideas form, whether that means writing new pages, revising existing ones, or discovering that your project is asking to become something different.
Progress isn’t just measured in word count, however. What matters is how well you’re responding to your own creative visions, even as they change.
During the history of the Authors’ Knot, several writers have found that their initial project has shifted and blossomed into something completely new. The self-help memoir becomes auto-fiction. The essay collection becomes a novel crossing centuries and continents. The book idea becomes a series of short stories submitted to small literary magazines.
Throughout the spring and summer you’ll continue to share your words, learning what reaches your listeners, discovering where your writing shines and understanding what ideas and aspects of your writing need more loving attention.
At the midpoint, we’ll start to talk about publication, submission, and specific strategies for getting your work into the world.
Approaching a Conclusion (But Not an End)
As we move into Autumn and November approaches, you’ll continue to write forward even as you review the year’s creativity and consider what comes next.
Will this mean you’re polishing a final draft and looking toward publication? Perhaps.
It’s a rare thing to write an entire book from scratch in a year. It’s more likely if you’re entering the group with a more established work-in-progress. We'll be with you every step of the way, whether you're completing a manuscript or making substantial progress on a project that will continue to grow beyond November.
About half of the Authors’ Knot members decide to sign up to continue together in the next year.
Being part of the Author's Knot was an experience in joy, humor, and tender support. A chance to be held in a sacred container while witnessing and growing alongside other creatives. I appreciate Marisa's feminine holding of the circle (the knot! ) - intuitive, honest, gentle, playful and led by the heart.! And wow is Marisa a word wizard! A total natural.
The Knot is an opportunity - a place to stay the course, take risks, evolve, celebrate and be celebrated. All the members of my group will forever hold a place in my heart.

The shape of our time together
Our year together stretches across forty weeks, with five weeks off woven through the year. You’ll have the dates well in advance. We keep meeting through the summer at a gentler pace, because our writing depends on time away from the page, especially when the ocean or the mountains call!
When we meet
Two Authors’ Knot cohorts run concurrently. When you apply, you'll be invited to indicate your preferred cohort. If both times work for you, I'll place you in the group where I think you'll find the best creative fit.
7 PM - 9 PM Eastern. Most meetings will be held on Mondays, but we’ll occasionally meet on Tuesdays to accommodate holidays, etc.
Noon - 2 PM Eastern. Most meetings will be held on Fridays, but we’ll occasionally meet on Thursdays because sometimes the weekend needs to start a little early.
Members of both cohorts have the opportunity to come together for quiet writing sprints two to three times per month. The time of these sessions will vary.
Dates for all calls are set month by month, but you’ll have plenty of notice to set your calendar.
How we spend our time
Read & Respond · two hours, about twice a month
These sessions are the beating heart of the Authors’ Knot and all members are expected to attend, whether you’re sharing your work or not. Three writers each have forty minutes to share their pages and receive careful, strengths-focused responses.
Over the year, you'll be invited to read your work ten times.
Office hours and co-writing · two hours, about twice a month
This is our time for connection without a specific agenda. We begin with informal check-ins and move into quiet writing time. In our second hour, the group writes and I hold office hours. Every member is invited to meet with me privately for a 10 minute 1:1 coaching session.
Writer’s Work, Writer’s Life Workshops · three or four times a year
A combination of reflection and deep conversation, we step back from the specifics of the project and tend the writer. Topics include dissolving the blocks that keep you from the desk, setting and revisiting your goals, and meeting the real challenges of a creative life.
Quiet prompted writing · several times a month
I offer a prompt and we write together in quiet company. Unlike the office hours session, this is all about the words on the page. I'll be opening my own document and spending time on my work-in-progress too.
Between our gatherings
Rather than relying on weekly accountability posts that are so easy to tune out after the first month, we follow the phases of the moon for our practice of intention-setting, reflection, and celebration. Each cycle invites you to return to your work with renewed attention.
Our WhatsApp groups are where the Knot conversation continues through the week. This is where you’ll share the article, the image, or the moment of synchronicity that makes you think of your Authors’ Knot sisters.
Session recordings and additional materials remain available to members throughout the program.

For me, it takes a village to write a book. Not just any village, but rather a community of like-minded writers eager to give birth to their own projects while serving as midwives for mine. The Author's Knot is this community.
Together, we encourage, celebrate, and tease out each other’s greatness, while holding sacred the space where meaning, purpose, spirituality, and words connect.
Our convener and Village Goddess, Marisa Goudy, guides us with her gentle wisdom, skill, and intuition to support us even in the most tender phases of our work. I am honored to be part of this beautiful community for my second year.

You want to make your writing a priority this year.
For real.
The Authors’ Knot welcomes memoirists, novelists, writers of creative nonfiction, and thought leaders shaping a substantial body of work.
There’s a good chance you’ll find a home in the Authors’ Knot even if you're not working on a book. Some of our members work on a regular newsletter, a podcast, or another “big project” that involves a sustained, integrated writing practice.
This is the group for you if…
You have a substantial creative project underway or taking shape. Even if its final form is still uncertain, you know you're committed to writing it into being.
You want to develop your writing craft and tend to your needs as a writer. You're ready to ask for support as you reckon with the shadows and challenges that arise when you decide to keep showing up to write for an entire year.
You're ready to make regular time for your writing between meetings. You’ll be ready to bring work to the group each month. Most of the time. Life happens. Sometimes, you’ll be willing to say “screw perfection!” and allow yourself to bring unfinished pages or developing ideas to the circle.
You're committed to reciprocity. You're ready to give other writers' work the same thoughtful attention you hope to receive for your own, knowing that listening closely is part of becoming a stronger writer.
You’re drawn to a space that welcomes myth, nature, intuition, the feminine and the sacred. You value the ephemeral magic of creativity and trust that the best work can blossom when you’re rooted in your own spirit.
This group is probably not a fit for you if…
You're looking for a traditional critique group focused on identifying what's wrong with a manuscript. We're serious about developing good writing, but our feedback is strengths-focused, compassionate, and offered with plenty of love and laughter.
You have a completed manuscript and are looking only for an editorial assessment. The Authors’ Knot is designed for writers who want to remain actively engaged in writing, revising, and discovering what their work can become.
Your primary goal is to learn how to get published. We'll discuss traditional and self-publishing, submissions, and building an audience, but the Authors’ Knot is primarily devoted to developing the writing itself.
I'm Marisa Goudy:
Writing coach, myth worker, podcaster,
and story healer
I invite you to meet me where the magical meets the practical, and where deep personal growth meets in-the-world progress.
When you're a member of the Authors’ Knot, I offer you my skills as an editor, author, and creative entrepreneur. And you can rely on my 25 years of experience as an energy healer to inform how I listen, how I hold space, and how I help you navigate the challenges that arise when you devote yourself to a long-term creative project.
I’ll help you produce your best possible writing without falling into old traps of self-judgement and perfectionism. That becomes possible when we make space for your own intuitive, embodied wisdom. You can count on me to remind you that the ancestors, the Earth, and the entire more-than-human world are conspiring on your behalf.
What's my story?
More than fifteen years ago, I left my career in academia and started my own business. A sudden loss taught me that I could not spend my life doing work I did not love. I also had a newborn daughter to raise, and I wanted the freedom and flexibility to support my family and expand my creativity in my own way.
I published The Sovereignty Knot: A Woman's Way to Freedom, Power, Love, and Magic in 2020. (Releasing a book just before the pandemic was… interesting!) These days, much of my creative energy is devoted to the KnotWork Myth & Storytelling Podcast, where we explore Celtic mythology, Irish folklore, and heroines' tales from around the world. My Myth Workers' Hearth newsletter on Substack reaches thousands of readers each week.
In 2018, I founded the Writers' Knot, a creative incubator and sanctuary. Now entering its third year, the Authors' Knot is the evolution of that original community.
I created this group to offer writers a place to develop their skills, deepen their relationship with their work, and see substantial creative projects through. It's a space where we can take our writing seriously without losing our sense of wonder, our sense of humor, or our connection to one another.

As both a masterful storyweaver and graceful space facilitator, Marisa creates an atmosphere that welcomes all stories, and all aspects of the creative process, with authenticity, integrity, and generosity.

As outlined above, we meet weekly to keep up the creative momentum and build our community. The twice monthly 120-minute sessions (which include training, Q&A sessions, and work sharing) are considered mandatory. You’ll receive a detailed calendar so you can plan ahead and block the time. The co-working sessions are optional, but members generally attend those regularly too.
Your overall commitment to writing during the program is up to you, but you should plan on setting aside a minimum of five hours each week to writing and research in order to move your project forward. -
There will be two separate cohorts of the Authors’ Knot in 2026.
One group will meet on Mondays at 7 PM ET. There are only 1 or 2 seats remaining in this section, so apply now if this is your preferred time slot!
A second cohort will meet during daytime hours on a weekday, day/time TBD. Most likely: Fridays, 12 -2 PM ET>I am in New York State in the Eastern Time zone. Calls will be held sometime between 9:00 AM ET and 9:00 PM ET.
-
This is a small, application-only group. When you apply for the Authors’ Knot, you are making a ten month commitment to the group, to yourself, and to your dream of being a writer.
Participants may cancel their registration any time up to one week before the first meeting (the initial payment of $399 is non-refundable). After that point, requests to terminate membership will be considered on a case-by-case basis.Because our community is small and intimate, and because creativity can be a vulnerable area of our lives, if the facilitator feels that a participant is disrupting the safety or harmony of the group, the participant will be asked to leave. Previous payment(s) will not be refunded and cannot be transferred. Subsequent payments will be canceled.
-
Members of the Authors’ Knot will have a chance to stay connected in a private online forum (not on social media) where they can share work and ask questions. This portal will also house all call recordings and additional training material.
-
I founded the Writers’ Knot in 2018, and it is still going strong. Considered a “creative incubator” the focus of the Writers’ Knot is on writing-in-community with new writing prompts for each session.
In contrast, the Authors’ Knot is focused on helping you make progress on a specific writing project, with an emphasis on building skills and developing your craft thanks to sustained feedback from a small group that knows your project intimately.
-
2026 topics will include: the art of strong beginnings and endings; how to create good tension and arcs of change in a scene; how to use a logline to focus your own attention and pitch your book; editing and what it really means to “kill your darlings.”
Registration is now open!
If you have questions about the program, please send me an email: marisa@marisagoudy.com.
Meet Your Guide, Marisa Goudy
Here’s what I believe…
Creativity - especially writing - can heal the disconnection from the sacred sense of self, from community, and from nature.
When we root into mythology, ancestral stories, and the imaginal realm, we can co-create a culture that honors both human diversity and biodiversity.
Each of us is being called to make a generative contribution to our world through our words and actions. We can - and must - continue to shape our world, one story at a time.
I invite you to meet me where the magical meets the practical, and where the deepest personal growth is paired with in-the-world progress.
When you join us in the Authors’ Knot, you’re working not just with a writing coach, but a story healer.
It’s important to get the writing done, of course, and I am dedicated to helping you hone your craft, but as I see it, that’s only one aspect of the work we’re setting out to do together.
I’m devoted to helping you uncover the stories and ideas that matter - to you, to the people you wish to serve, to readers who could be changed by your words.
That means that, in addition to offering you my skills as an editor, author, and creative entrepreneur with more than a decade of experience, I’m also showing up as an energy healer who begins each group session with a lit candle and a brief grounding meditation. Eager to help tap into your intuitive and embodied wisdom, I will always encourage you to consider how nature and the entire more-than-human world can support your creative becoming.
What’s my story?

My best selling book, The Sovereignty Knot: A Woman’s Way to Freedom, Power, Love, and Magic was released in 2020. These days, my creative energies are devoted to the KnotWork Storytelling Podcast where we explore Celtic mythology, Irish folklore, and heroines’ tales from around the world. My Myth Is Medicine, Words Are Magic newsletter on Substack reaches thousands of readers each week.
In 2018, I founded the Writers’ Knot, a creative incubator and sanctuary for folks who want to make writing part of their lives. Now in its second year. the Authors’ Knot is an offshoot of that flourishing community. I created this new group to provide a focused space where we not only write together, but also focus on building skills and seeing major projects through to completion.
